“There are simply not enough hours in the day.” That was your first mistake. Simply indulging in this idea is enough to make the average person want to give up and stress out entirely. The truth is, college students have been shown to be the demographic with the most on their plate at one time. Not only do they have to deal with being a full time student who tries to find ample time to study, but most also have to work sometimes multiple jobs and there are even those who try to form some semblance of a social/ love life. And somehow in the midst of all that, let’s not forget that you need to take time to actually sleep. With all these things trying to take equal time, it’s natural to want to just curl up in a ball and fade off into nothing for a while. However, there is a way that you can fit everything in: Time Management.

The first step to time management is prioritizing. What is the most important thing for you to get done at that very moment? Once you’ve determined that, you can effectively plan out your day.

Speaking of which, the second step of effective time management is planning. Try to allot enough time to each thing you want to do in order to be able to fit everything in. Often times this proves to be the most challenging step, but it can be done as long as you are determined. Sidenote: this step seems to be a lot easier if you are organized. Keep a planner or even a whiteboard so you can organize your day on a visual canvas.

And finally, the third step is realizing that sometimes, you win some you lose some. At the end of the day, there are some things that just have to take more priority than others. Whether it be you wanting to be with your friends or having to finish that dreaded term paper, remember, no sleep is not an option. You have to be your first priority.

Remember: There’s always the weekend!
